Garbutt’s is located in the small traditional Belizean community of Punta Gorda, Belize

We sit at the point of Joe Taylor Creek just minutes from the center of town. With our location we are able to provide anglers the ideal home base for experiencing this southern Belize fishery. Our guest accommodations overlook the Caribbean to the front and Joe Taylor Creek to the back.

Enjoy falling asleep in our air conditioned accommodations and waking up to the sound of waves breaking over the shore from the Caribbean. Our location provides anglers and guests the ability to enjoy the community of Punta Gorda or just relax in peace after a long day on the water.

With six accommodations we can provide anglers exactly what they are looking for whether it is a group or a mix of anglers looking to target permit throughout our fishery.

Restaurant / Main Lodge

Garbutt’s restaurant, main lodge, and Grand Slam Bar are located upstairs from the main office, equipment room, and dock an easy walk from all accommodations. This tends to be our social hub for guests to enjoy catching up at the end of their day while enjoying the character and low key atmosphere of our operation. Meals are Belizean home cooked by our very own family and served family style in the main lodge. No one will go hungry as we make sure there is plenty of food for everyone to have more than a single serving after a day on the water.

Breakfast and lunch are usually taken on the boat each day to maximize the amount of fishing time and good light. Dinners are served in the main lodge each evening. With the exception of evenings when Dennis Garbutt your host takes everyone out for dinner in town. For dinner you can expect fresh seafood, stew chicken, plantains, beans and rice, pork, vegetables, home made tortillas, etc. On the nights that Dennis takes everyone into town you don’t need to worry about covering the bill as this is included in your package with us here at Garbutt’s.

Internet / Communications

Wi-Fi is available free of charge for all lodge guests. Please bring your own laptop, iPad, or phone to access the internet. Depending on your service provider some cell phones will get service at the lodge as well. If your cell phone doesn’t get service and you need to make an emergency call home we do have access to an international phone at the lodge that will allow you to call home. Please know that international calls are expensive and we reserve this service for emergencies only.
